Jaume Santonja, percussion
(Bocairent Valencia, Spain, 1986)
Jaume has been solo percussionist of the Royal Flemish Philarmonic of Antwerpen (Belgium) since 2011.
He graduated from the ESMUC (Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya) and went on studying in the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (The Netherlands) where he obtained an M.A. in music in 2010. There he worked with Professors Gustavo Gimeno, Nick Woud and Mark Braafhart (soloists of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra) as with Victor Oskam and Peter Prommel.
Jaume, who lives in Belgium, collaborates regularly with such orchestras as Rotterdam Philharmonic (RPhO) and Royal Concertgebouw orchestra (RCO). He used to be a member of several youth orchestras: Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, Verbier Festival Orchestra, Joven Orquesta Nacional de España (JONDE) and the Jove Orquestra Nacional de Catalunya, among others.
Very much interested in chamber music, he created and took part in various projects with the AKT-TèK percussion duet, one of his musical priorities to complement his orchestral activities.
